LOVE OF MY HEART...
Heavenly...
Magic .
Very Jewish
I was never really fascinated by the horn (or the sound of it), but the beautiful and sentimental first movement and horn playing totally captured my attention and interest for the instrument. From this music, I come to appreciate the beautiful sounds the horn can produce. Now I am addicted to the first movement. Bravo!
wonderful performance, filled with controlled ''burning fire''.
three making a beautiful Triangle
Please have mercy and leave Brahms out of this.
Zora Slokar - great horn player! A horn really Isn't my favourite instrument, but she's very subtle, and this instrument sound in her mouth very noble.
that page turner lurking in the shadows like she's about to slit the pianist's throat + this music = basically a horror movie
But where is the fourth movement?
Ditto to the comments below. I'm glad I stumbled upon this gorgeous performance. With such disparate instruments as horn and violin, achieving balance can be quite a challenge. The balance here is perfect.

Beautiful!
She makes that horn sing. Wonderful!
THis work is a turnpoint in the work of LIgeti. it is hauntigly beautiful.
Gérard Begni You are full of shit
I agree with Waggish Sagacity's comment -- this performance is an absolute treasure. Before this trio was written, there was no reason to think that horn, violin and piano would even work together (unless as a curiosity or joke), but Brahms had a Mozart-like flash of insight into some very specific ways that those three sonorities could be synthesized into a brand-new sound -- and that insight is brought out wonderfully in every moment of this performance. Thank you for uploading!
Verschlungen I agree, but, Brahms wanted this piece to be played on the waldhorn - natural horn without valves. I want to hear it in original instrumentation.
It would be interesting to know the process the composer used to composing the music.
nice horn playing - beautiful tone and agility
The Horn Trio is probably the finest piece of music ever written for the horn, in terms of the quality of the writing. Brahms innately understood what makes the horn the horn. He knew what it took to bring out the instrument’s most satisfying lyrical side, in a way that other composers before and after didn’t really get. The slow movement is remarkable: it’s very contained, very calm, almost icy calm, until this extraordinary outburst in the last couple of lines of the movement where this huge anguish comes out, and then it goes away again. It’s extraordinary. David Pyatt, horn player
I would pose that it's one of the all-time greatest pieces EVER written.
"this extraordinary outburst in the last couple of lines of the movement where this huge anguish comes out" Can you give me the starting time where that happens?
I can't understand how something so perfect and beautiful can come out of one man...
This piece should have been a tribute to Legeti's countryman Bela Bartok instead of Brahms. Some of the piano chords sound like they belong to Bartok's "Music for Strings, Percussion & Celeste". The Bartok influence is striking.
tre musicisti fantastici <3
One of the world's greatest masterpieces played masterfully, darkly, evocatively, correctly (I believe), and beautifully. What else does one need?
Ligeti strikes at the heart and has us there.
Bravissimi !!! e poi Tamas e' super come sempre !!!!!!!!
Best and truest to score!
a bit abrupt at the end!
thank you. this is fantastic.
i'm so gay for the hornist
would make nice background music in a funeral
Tallen
What a beautiful horn tone!
would make nice background music in a fancy restaurant
My childhood memories are of a dark, mysterious, and muted horn trio. Here we have--for the first time in many decades--a performance that is excellent in every possible way AND that replicates the sounds I recall. When I researched the entry about this magnificent and truly somber piece, I found that Brahms--following his mother's death composed the trio for a natural horn--rather than the now [1865] almost ubiquitous valved horn. Evidently, Brahms wanted to avoid the newly found brightness of the valved horn, and at the same time, reminded himself and us of the passing of his mother and of death in general. Zora Slokar and her two companions gorgeously capture Brahms' intent and spirit, I believe, so thank you for uploading the video and thank you players for this outstanding, dark performance (note also how dark the stage they are playing on is).

First rate musicianship and a great score by the incomparable Gyorgy Ligeti.
Just out of this world. Like this should always sound the music of Brahms!!
Everything is genial: the music, the interpretation and the recording.
A key work in XXth or XXIth century music.. Back to home which will never be home again.
excellent comment
Such beautiful music,it dropped my stress level down to 0.Or maybe it's because of the weed I smoked.
+whatayawant You can have them both. One enhances the other. When I smoke, I can "get" a piece of music much faster than when I don't. It's a beautiful thing! I played French Horn in High School and now wish I had been able to keep it up. I would so love to be playing music like this.
I had just been thinking about the French horn and it has such a pure sound to it,that's about the best I can describe it.I've never really listened to any music on here at all,too busy with online games. But I'll have to try it the next time I get stoned (in about 18 hours I'd guess).
LOL! Thanks for the reply. I love my music, but I also get distracted by all the interesting things to look at on the internet. Enjoy your high, and your music. It all sounds great with weed!
I've been paying attention to how music "sounds" while I'm stoned and I don't really notice it sounding better. It's hard to describe how it does sound while stoned,it's almost as if the music has become more clear. It's like listening to an old 45 speed record with a cheap player and then listening to it on a high end stereo.Like I said,it's hard to describe.
whatayawant Yes. That's exactly what I was talking about. It does become much more clear. You hear and pick up things you never heard before - all things that were already there, but now you become much more sensitive to the music. If it's the first time you've heard a piece, you are more aware of everything that is going on and you can fall in love with certain pieces on first hearing much more easily.
it gets cuuuuttt!!! such a huge cockbock!!
what's all this talk about "out of tune"? Equal temperament is out of tune.
Dracula is alive!!! Zora Slokar plays superb. Beautiful sound.
Great performance from ALL. Thank you!!
Beautiful ! Thanks
Dracula!!! Hauntingly beautiful. I dont know how to describe it. It is neither minimalist, nor baroque. Probably just incredibly disruptive. It makes everything else look so easy, cliched, and ordinary.
This is so Bad, it makes deaf children cry. This guy is No musician to me
its not for everyone man, no worries
holy crap this music is incredible, how could you say that?? your loss, for sure.
this is intense!
This is a fantastic performance.
